Niamh Boothroyd, a 19-year-old attacking midfielder from Sunderland AFC Women, has joined Middlesbrough FC Women on a season-long loan. The move follows Boothroyd's recent signing of her first professional contract with Sunderland's WSL2 side.
Rising Talent
Boothroyd progressed through Sunderland's PGA academy programme and is recognised for her creativity, speed and set-piece abilities. She was named the PGA's Creative Player of the Season last year after scoring 15 goals.
The midfielder has represented Northern Ireland at youth level, featuring for her country at Under-17 and Under-19 standard.
Manager's Welcome
Middlesbrough Women manager Joe Lillie said: "I'm really happy to have Niamh on board; she's a great young talent and will bolster our attack. She's creative and forward-thinking, really positive on the ball, and that's what we want. Her attitude and mentality is great; she'll bring energy and she's another great addition to the squad."
