Sunderland AFC has released a new book charting the club's complete managerial history. The Gaffers: Sunderland AFC's Managers Through the Decades is written by the club's official historian Rob Mason and is now available for supporters to purchase.
The publication traces every manager and head coach to have led Sunderland AFC, beginning with Tom Watson when the club joined the Football League in 1890, through to current head coach Régis Le Bris.
What the book covers
The book includes details on both permanent and caretaker managers. Each entry offers an at-a-glance guide covering the manager's time in charge, their results record, and major signings made during their tenure.
Mason conducted interviews with 44 of the men who have managed Sunderland AFC during his research for the publication, making it a comprehensive record of the club's managerial heritage.
