Sunderland AFC are building momentum during their pre-season tour of America, head coach Régis Le Bris has said. The Black Cats travel to New Jersey on Thursday to face Leeds United at Sports Illustrated Stadium, with six players returning after representing their countries at the FIFA World Cup.
Progress despite Liverpool defeat
After a week in Nashville, Le Bris has been encouraged by the squad's progress in early pre-season. Despite an opening defeat to Liverpool at GEODIS Park, he believes both the returning World Cup players and the existing group share a strong connection to the club's principles.
First Premier League season and beyond
Le Bris has stressed that the squad is not treating their historic first season back in the Premier League as the end of their story. The club plans further development ahead of a demanding campaign involving domestic cups and Europa League football.
