Sunderland AFC Women have announced that winger Izzy Atkinson has signed a new contract with the club. Atkinson joined last summer and made an immediate impact, scoring on her debut against Sheffield United in the 2025-26 campaign opener.
First Season Impact
Over nine league games, Atkinson scored two goals and provided one assist. She netted a winner against Ipswich Town in December before injury disrupted the second half of her season.
Club Support and Recovery
Head Coach Mel Reay said Atkinson is "a highly valued member of the squad" and "a fantastic player and a great character". Technical Director Rehanne Skinner added the club remains "committed to supporting her final stages of recovery" as she works her way back to full fitness.
Atkinson expressed her determination to return, saying she is "hungry to get back out there, give everything for this club, and help the team push on" following her injury setback.
