Sunderland AFC made an emphatic start to their pre-season preparations with a 5-1 victory over newly promoted York City at the LNER Community Stadium. The Black Cats, managed by Régis Le Bris, showcased their attacking prowess across both halves of the match.
First-Half Goals
Enzo Le Fée opened the scoring on seven minutes with a 19-yard finish. Chris Rigg doubled the lead on 37 minutes before Tutierov struck a stunning 25-yard effort. Le Fée added a second goal moments later to give Sunderland a commanding position at the interval.
Second Half and New Faces
Le Bris made wholesale changes at half-time. Substitute Tom Proctor marked his first senior appearance with a goal, heading home from Charlie Dinsdale's cross to seal the comfortable victory. York's Greg Olley scored a consolation goal, but Sunderland's second-half display proved equally assured as they saw out the match.
The fixture also saw Sunderland debut their new away kit during the match.
